A-ha- Imogen Heap
Firstly this low budget music video
includes a lot of low key lighting, typical of this genre of music. This is
easily achieved through cinematography, the mise en scene and the editing.
Allowing the music video to benefit from a more realistic look and feel.
Additionally this music video bucks the
trend, as there is minimal lip singing, instead seeing an extreme close up of
lips singing to the song. This doesn’t really affect the budget of the film
however it could be used to help the video relate to the specific genre.
Also this video has clever, low budget props and costumes again to add to the effect of the genre. Add this to the framing and low key lighting it creates a mysterious effect relating to the tempo and beat of the soundtrack.
Just got paid- the fix
This is a completely different genre,
however again the lighting has been cleverly designed to maximize the
professional feel and look of the video. This is defiantly an important aspect
of the creation of the music video. Additionally the music video includes 3+
locations ranging from a studio, a room within a house and a staircase. This is
a typical convention used in a music video of this genre.
Additionally whilst the other music video had narrative, this is solely a live performance. This is unconventional as often there is also a storyline between the live performances, however this particular layout can suit specific genres depending on their conventions
This video is also very conventional it features many of the conventions associated with the pop genre, such as; lip singing, live performance, a range of camera angles, and movements, multiple locations and a musical score throughout the video.
