Here we have annotated the typical conventions/ views of what we expect the artist to look like in our drum and bass music video. Typically the artists feature hidden identities, wearing dark clothing. A conventional outfit includes a plain black hoodie, a black t- shirt, black jeans and black branded trainers. This typical design will be mimicked in our music video, ensuring it meets the conventions of the genre. In general the outfit is hugely aimed at hiding the identity of the character, while also representing them as a rebellious feature highlighted through the hooded, dark clothing.
Drum and Bass music artists generally also have masks to hide their identity. Here is a collage of all the different masks we have seen whilst conducting our research into this genre. These masks are designed and used as the sole purpose of hiding the characters identity. This adds to the rebellious nature of the genre, making it more mysterious and conventional. we will discuss these options and decide weather to use a humorous mask like the pig mask, or a more serious difficult view such as the full face mask.
